Mosquito Watch: invasive mosquito found breeding in east London
The UKHSA has confirmed that Aedes aegypti, the yellow fever mosquito, was found breeding at homes in east London on 3 September, 2026. It is the first time this species has been discovered breeding in the UK. The risk to the public is very low. This means we are on alert, as there may be more breeding populations in the UK that are undiscovered.
